👑 Pickup! Tokyo Game Dungeon 10

2025年 12月 03日

Tokyo Game Dungeon 10

It’s been a while since we last went, but we managed to make it to Tokyo Game Dungeon 10 on November 9th! (That also just so happened to coincide with Dejigehaku 2025, which is an incredible power move on the part of Game Dungeon organizers…)

Over the past couple of years, the event has grown from an already impressive showcase of indie games to an absolute behemoth and must-see event for any indie game enthusiast. Exhibitor spaces get snapped up almost as soon as they open up, and there is now also a spinoff Osaka event in December. Game Dungeons have become the places to go to see what Japanese indie devs have been cooking up! The exhibitor list had grown so large that the venue was split across two different floors, and both halls were packed wall-to-wall with games. It was an incredible experience and one that folks should definitely try to check out at least once if you’re ever in the area. (Psst, the next Tokyo Game Dungeon is on 2026 February 8th, so write that down!)

As always, there were far too many games for us to play and look at while we were there. For the full list of games, please check out the TGD website, and also the Steam page for the event. But here are a bunch of games that we checked out and really enjoyed!

Re:VER PROJECT -TOKYO- by Nestopi and Toei Animation

What is it? A gritty survival simulator set in a gorgeously rendered pixel art Tokyo. After being framed for a crime, you must find a way to survive along the edges of Tokyo without getting caught by the police. Loot abandoned houses for supplies and food, make deals with sketchy characters, and try to make it to another day. It reminds me a lot of games like This War Of Mine, but from the viewpoint of a person who has fallen through the cracks of “normal” Japanese society.

Where can I play it? Re:VER PROJECT -TOKYO- will release on Steam in 2026. Visit developer Nestopi’s homepage for more of their other games.

Typomagical by Sigcom

What is it? A Survivors-like where you type the names of spells and attacks to deal damage to the enormous waves of enemies coming at you. You can unlock adjectives to enhance your spells; for example, typing triple bouncy mega fire ball summons three large balls of fire that bounce around the edge of the screen and off of enemies.
